Pixels Art

Before you begin, make sure that you have done the Tutorial " Pixel Art Tools In PhotoImpact " and knows all the setting, cause they are always the same and save them in your Easy Palette for a fast access and also the previous projects, they build up from previous one.

Remember, no soft edge, none whatsoever.

Before you begin, you will have to decide what size your would like to have your background for your final result.

Once that is done, open a white canvas with RGB color. You may use the sketch at the left but this one is really big, you may want to draw your own similar and smaller.

Now you will have to draw some outline to sketch what your scene would look like.

Use the paint brush tool in mode for this, free hand with the pixels setting.

After, your sketch is done, clean out your pixels outline with the eraser next to mode on your top bar.

Once done click out of mode and deselect.

Save your work and put it aside.

Now you need to make your color palette.

These on the left is the color we did use for the pixels scene, you may use these ones or make your own.

    How to choose your color.

For a nice transition from one color to an other, choose every two color tone shade, or next to each other.

Here is how I do it.

For example, let's take the sky. Choose the darkest color you would like to have in your sky using the window color picker.

Save those custom color.

Next click on your window color picker again, choose the next one before it or the second one before it and add to your custom color palette.

Continue like this until you have chosen all your sky color.

You may want to put your color on a canvas in little rectangle like I did, so this way you just have to color pick from it to paint.

OK, Let's the fun begin.

Bring back your sketch scene.

With your magic wand, select the road path, hope you have made one.

Convert your selection into an object.

Click on edit mode.
I'm going to show you something different here. We want our road look like a dirt road.

Open your Brush Panel, choose color:

Set it like the example on the left, but do not touch the other setting.

Now with your paint brush, remember that we still keep our size at 1 pixel. Zoom in about 800% or more depending what is more comfortable for you to work with.

Paint onto your selection object, don't worry if you go outside of it, it won't show since we are on a select object here.

Here is what it does look like when zoom in.
Ok, now we will be painting the cliff. Select it with the magic wand and convert to an object.
Click on edit mode.  Choosing the darker brown color for the cliff, I paint freely on it where I thing shadows would be.
Staying in edit mode, I change color choosing a lighter brown color and paint next to it.
I keep going like this with a lighter brown color and so on.
Keep adding your different brown colors.
And so on.
And so on.
Until your are done with your cliff.
Click out of edit mode and save your work.

Do save your work often, I may not repeat it further down enough.

Good, we are done with are brown color palette.

Let's begin with the greens. Select the bottom right corner of your scene with the magic wand and convert to an object.

Click on your edit mode and choose the darkest green color and paint freely with your paint brush along the road path.
Staying in edit mode, change the next lighter green to it. Paint along your darkest green.

Repeat this step for the next lighter green color.

Click out of edit mode and save your work.

Let's have a full view of our work here.

Your doing pretty good.

What we are going to do is divide up our green path between the road path and the cliff.

Since I had decided that I was going to use 6 different greens for my green path I divided it into six different path.

To to this, I use the paint brush in mode and paint freely, make sure all the line touch each other for when you make your selection with the magic wand it doesn't select the other green path you want to have.

Ok, now let's select the bottom green part at the left bottom of your scene, we are going to work from bottom up and from dark to lighter color.

Convert to object, click on edit mode and paint freely. Click out of edit mode and save your work.

We are going to repeat the step above for the next lighter green color.

Let's move on to the next page.
